Affiliate Leaders,

 

We are excited to share an important addition to this year’s Curtis Oscar Noble Legislative Conference Training Day. This dedicated afternoon is designed to support your growth as leaders and strengthen our collective advocacy across Alberta.

 

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Matrix Hotel in Edmonton, Affiliates will have the opportunity to take part in two focused sessions led by the IAFF Communications Team and Jason Curry. These courses will provide practical tools in social media strategy and issue-based campaigning, skills that directly support the important work you do in your Locals and in our Association.

 

Training Day registration is $75 per participant and includes access to both afternoon sessions.

 

We encourage you to take part in this opportunity to build your skills, connect with peers, and bring new insights back to your Local.

Our Training

Building Impact Through Social Media

Start Time : 1300-1400

Social media remains one of the most effective tools for amplifying our voice and connecting with the public. This session will provide practical tips and strategies to create engaging posts, avoid common pitfalls, and measure results. We’ll also explore emerging tools to support affiliates strengthen their online presence and advocacy efforts.

Issue to Impact Campaigns

Start Time : 1415-1700

Led by Jason Curry, this session will walk affiliates through the key elements of planning and executing issue-based campaigns. Using real-world examples, including current staffing challenges, you’ll learn when to escalate issues, how to coordinate member and public communication, and when to strategically engage politically.
